30th Anniversary for First Community Bank

First Community Bank is about to celebrate its 30th anniversary.   Their logo is an oak tree and motto is "Other Banks Have Branches, We Have Roots".   For the celebration, the Stuart Place branch is decorating their lobby with a Live Oak.

Here's the one we'll be taking over to them later today.

Congratulations to First Community Bank and all its employees!

  1. I am so pleased I will have the opportunity to view y'alls tree each morning. I will pass it every day on my day to work. Y'all might want to make an agreement with Palm Valley on some palms. I mentioned it to some friends o' mine. I was thinking maybe of a monthly award to folks who incorporated palms into the landscape?!?

  2. Great idea, RJGUTEX! The Palm Valley residents actually do a pretty great job using palms in their landscapes. I needed some landscape pictures for a short Palm Identification talk and that was the first neighborhood I headed for. I am all for anything and everything to beautify the Valley! Have you driven the frontage roads in McAllen? It's like a botanical garden all the way through town. Absolutely gorgeous!

  3. Ummm...totally in agreement! Harlingen has dropped the ball insofar as native landscaping. I mention to whomever I am with that McAllen has made so many inroads incorporating native design. Harlingen, on the other hand, has fallen so far behind...Ummm, the road to the airport. What went wrong? I see pavers. The new 'island' they built on 77 entering Harlingen...I hear is cost about .5 million. Don't quote me. It looks like junk. Harlingen Proud? I am not so proud right now. Perhaps we need to join the commitee?
